NATIONAL NYCPD 10-13 ORGANIZATIONS, HUDSON VALLEY 10-13 ASSOCIATION, AND RETIRED SERGEANTS ASSOCIATION, INC. ENDORSE TOM BASILE TO SUCCEED BILL LARKIN

NEW WINDSOR, NY – Representing thousands of current and former NYPD officers and their families, the National NYCPD 10-13 Organizations, Inc., the Hudson Valley 10-13 Association and the Retired Sergeants Association have announced their endorsement of Tom Basile to succeed Senator Bill Larkin as the area’s voice for law enforcement in Albany.

These active and retired officers are latest law enforcement organizations to join a growing coalition that includes the NYC PBA; the NYS Association of PBAs; the PBA of New York State; the Detectives’ Endowment Association, NYPD; the Lieutenants Benevolent Association, NYPD; the Captains Endowment Association, NYPD; the Orange County Shields; the Orange County Deputy Sheriffs PBA; the Rockland County PBA; and Orange County Sheriff Carl DuBois, who have all overwhelmingly backed Basile. The groups have repeatedly cited Basile’s lifetime of advocacy at the local, state and national level on behalf of our cops.

“Our cops and their families deserve someone who will ensure they can continue to live in the communities they call home. Recent years have been challenging time for our law enforcement community and New York City Democrats, and who now want total control of state government, have only fanned the flames. As Senator, I will always be a proud advocate for our police officers and retired law enforcement community. These brave men and women will always know I have their backs,” said Basile, who is running on the Republican, Conservative and Independence Party lines on November 6.

Basile has previously criticized Governor Cuomo for pardoning of thousands of felons, including cop killers, and then granting them the right to vote. He has also offered his strong support for the Community Hero Protection Act (S.1114), which passed the Senate but was blocked by Democrat Assembly leaders. The bill would protect police officers by increasing penalties for criminals who specifically target against members of law enforcement. Basile also endorsed the Senate’s Retired Police Officer Protection Act (S.1747), which creates a new crime for the assault of a retired police officer who previously arrested the assailant.
