BASILE EARNS NRA, NYSRPA ENDORSEMENT IN CRITICAL STATE SENATE RACE

WOODBURY, NY - Candidate for State Senate Tom Basile announced today that he has earned the National Rifle Association's (NRA) and the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association’s (NYSRPA) endorsements for the 39th Senate race. Basile attained an Aq rating from the NRA, the highest rating a candidate can receive from the organization, an Aq rating from NYSRPA, and an A rating from SCOPE.

"As our next State Senator, I will fight to protect the rights and freedoms of New York's law-abiding gun owners. This race is critically important to our sportsmen and 2nd Amendment supporters, because NYC-Democrat leadership in the State Senate would decimate the rights our legal gun owners. If we want to get serious about deterring gun crime, we need to better enforce the laws we have on the books and focus on policies that drive better outcomes without depriving people of their rights," said Basile, who is running on the Republican, Conservative and Independence Party lines on November 6. Basile supports repealing the so-called SAFE Act, efforts to improve communication between law enforcement agencies to help deter gun crime, and providing sufficient state funding for part-time police officers in schools in our area that want them.

“After listening to his opponent’s comments about the 2nd Amendment it’s very apparent we need a man like Tom Basile in the New York State Senate. Please, vote for Tom Basile,” said New York State Rifle and Pistol Association President Tom King.

"Tom Basile is the right man to represent Hudson Valley sportsmen and women. A man of principles, Tom will ensure that when we need a voice in Albany, especially against radical New York City-interest who want to take away due process and other rights of law-abiding gun owners, we have a someone defending us. Unlike his opponent, who'd rather steal a quick headline than keep his promises, Second Amendment supporters in our area can trust Tom Basile," said NRA-ILA FLA Coordinator George Kydon.

Basile’s opponent, James Skoufis, once claimed to be an advocate for gun owners and was previously endorsed by the NRA be he has since flipped his positions and now supports a range on new gun laws. During the past session, Skoufis voted with his Assembly’s NYC-leadership to pass radical new “red flag” legislation (A.11148) that disregards due process rights of legal gun owners and further erodes all New Yorkers gun rights.

“Mr. Skoufis used our area’s sportsmen to get elected. Now he’s turned his back on us, voting for legislation that would strip law-abiding gun owners of their property and due process rights. Mr. Skoufis would rather grab headlines and play to the camera than have real, principled positions. With our rights and freedoms at stake, we can’t afford to have another flip-flopping career politician in Albany," said Basile.

Basile is a member of the Black Rock Fish and Game Club, the largest sportsmen club in Orange County and one of the largest in New York State.
